The steps to add these features to the blogger sidebar are as follows.
- Login to Blogger
- On the dashboard page select “Layout”
- Before adding a sidebar, you can first see the sidebar of an existing blog. In the following examples are “Blog Archive” and “About Me”
- On the Layout page, you can see the sidebars that come with the default Blogger template, namely “Blog Archive” and “About Me”. To add a new sidebar, just click “Add a Gadget” then select the features to be stored in the sidebar.
- To add the desired feature can be selected on the “Add a Gadget” page. For example, if you want to add a sidebar containing text, then select Text, but if you want to save an image in the sidebar, follow step 9.
- Next write the title and text that will be displayed on the sidebar. At the top right of the editor there is a toolbar to set the writing style such as bold, italics, colors, links, and blockquotes.
- Do a refresh (F5) or by way of Preview to see if the sidebar containing the text was successfully added. To make edits or changes, click the small icon like the image of a screwdriver and wrench in the lower right corner of each sidebar.
- Pay attention to the blogger layout, now a new sidebar “Potato Varieties” has been added which contains text.
- To add an image in a new sidebar, click “Add a Gadget” then select “Image”.
- The next step is to fill in the image title and caption. If the image will be linked, fill in the “Link” box with the destination URL. If the image will be taken from a computer, click the Choose File button then select the image file to be saved in the sidebar, but if the image will be retrieved from a URL, copy and paste the image URL into the “From the web” box so that the width is resized to 300px , check “Shrink to fit.” When finished, click Save, but if you intend to delete the image, just click remove image.
- The blogger layout has now added one more sidebar containing images.
- The image below is the final result after adding two sidebars containing text and images.
